Commercial Auto Insurance
If you or your employees drive for business — deliveries, client visits, transporting equipment — a personal auto policy won't cover you. Commercial auto insurance covers liability, physical damage, and medical costs for vehicles used in your business operations.
What it covers
- Liability for injury and property damage caused by a business vehicle
- Physical damage to your vehicles — collision and comprehensive
- Medical costs for the driver and passengers
- Uninsured and underinsured motorist protection
- Coverage for employee-owned vehicles used for business, under a hired and non-owned endorsement
Who needs it
Any business whose vehicles are owned by the business, or whose employees drive for work — deliveries, client visits, job sites, or transporting tools and equipment.
A commute to a fixed office generally does not trigger this. Driving as part of the work does.
Common gaps we see
Personal auto policies routinely exclude business use. If an employee causes an accident while running a work errand in their own car, that claim can land on your business with no coverage behind it. Hired and non-owned auto coverage is the usual fix, and it is often inexpensive.
